Will you ever be charged for repairs?
There are a number of reasons why we may recharge our costs in carrying out a repair to tenants.
- If we carry out repairs that are your responsibility.
- If we repair anything damaged by you, your family or your visitors.
- If we repair or secure your home when it is damaged by someone you do not know, and you do not provide a crime reference number.
- If we have to do work to your home when you move out (for example because of the condition or because you have removed any fixtures or fittings) we may charge you for the costs.
- If possible, we will tell you that you will be charged for the repair before we carry out any work.
- We may ask you to pay all or part of the estimated cost before we agree to carry out any work.
- If we carry out a repair which we later find to be rechargeable, we will notify you as soon as possible.
- Tenant vulnerability will alwys be individually assessed prior to deciding the urgency of the work.
- If you do not keep an appointment with a contractor you will be charged for the cost of the wasted visit.
- If we tell you we are sending a contractor out on an emergency call and you do not wait for them to arrive, you will be charged for the cost of the wasted visit.
- If a contractor attends out of hours on an emergency and you have not carried out your responsibilities to make safe the problem or have exaggerated the problem, you will be charged for the extra costs.
