Here are our top tips on how you can stay warm this Winter: · Keep moving, a little exercise will help you generate extra heat. · Wear several layers of clothing, they will keep you warmer than one thick layer. · Set your thermostat at around 21 Degrees Celsius and heat all the rooms you use in the day. · If you can’t heat all your rooms make sure you keep your living room warm throughout the day and heat your bedroom before going to bed. · Stay warm in bed with bed socks, thermal underwear and a hat or headscarf. · Make sure all your doors and windows are shut tightly and close curtains at night. This will not only keep the cold out but will also help reduce your energy bills. · Use hot water bottles OR electric blankets but NEVER both due to the risk of electrical shock. · Have plenty of hot drinks and hot food throughout the day. If you receive benefits you may be entitled to a Cold Weather Payment of £25 if the weather in your area is below 0 degrees Celsius for seven consecutive days.
