Money Advice

Most people experience financial difficulties at some time in their life, It can be caused by a variety of reasons for e.g a change in circumstances such as ill health, job loss, relationship breakdown, a new addition to the family.

With the current financial climate more and more people are seeking debt advice.  The earlier you deal with the problem, the quicker your situation can be improved.

Following the success of our Money Advice Service covering the Birmingham area, we are pleased to announce that since November 2008 we have extended the service to cover all areas, for all of our customers.

At Trident we have a face to face Money Advice Service that can help you with:-


Income Maximisation

  • A full Welfare Benefit check and assistance claiming your correct benefit entitlement.
  • Accessing financial assistance and grants available to you.

Dealing with Debts and Budgeting

  • Arranging payment plans on your rent arrears, to help you remain in your home.
  • Dealing with debts.
    • Prioritising debts and advising on the implications for non payment.
    • The options available to you for dealing with debts. 
    • Advising on your rights and responsibilities.
    • Providing information for self help and where extra support is needed assisting you to 
      negotiate with creditors (the people you owe money to).
  • Money Management and budgeting Advice:
    • minimising expenditure information on finding and switching to a cheaper fuel supplier, and fuel tariffs/schemes for vulnerable people. 
  • Refer you to the appropriate agency for your particular circumstances.

  • Accessing your local Credit Unions.  Saving to cope better with unexpected expenditure or for events coming up and quick access to affordable credit hyperlinks to the credit union
  • What to do if you are a victim of a Loan Shark  (links to loan shark team part).
  • Access affordable furniture through local Furniture recycling projects.


It is not uncommon to find that where there are money problems, there are other issues that people also need advice on.  These can be as a direct result of the debt problems or one of the causes that led to the money problems. Therefore we have provided links to Citizens Advice Bureau who help people resolve their legal and money problems.  They provide assistance on a wide range of areas such as Employment, Consumer, Immigration, Housing, and have Debt and Welfare Rights Caseworkers.

How can I access Trident’s Money Advice Service? 

The service is available to all of our customers irrespective of where you live.  We offer a personal face-to-face service to all.

Appointment at Head Office, Simply call 0121 633 4633 or call into Head Office.   If the Money Advice worker is not available when you call, leave your contact details and you will be contacted to arrange a mutually agreeable appointment/home visit.

Drop in to one of our outreach venues.  See below for the current list of times and venues.  This is updated regularly  or call 0121 633 4633 for details.  Note: To avoid disappointment before visiting an Outreach venue telephone us on the number above to check that the advice surgery is taking place that day.

Home visits For those who are unable to visit head office or an outreach venue.   Telephone 0121 633 4633.  If the Money Advice worker is not available when you call, leave your contact details and you will be contacted to arrange a mutually agreeable home visit.
 
Telephone  If you require basic information or simply require directing to the appropriate agency to help you then call 0121 633 4633.  Please be aware that the Money Adviser may not always be available immediately However, if you leave a message I will always return your call.

By referral from the Income Management Team, Housing Options Team, or Support Worker.
